Andrew is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and Executive IT Architect in IBM’s global financial markets services team.
Andrew focuses on business aligned technology, architecture, innovation and has gained in-depth experience in complex systems integration, operational resilience, technology strategy, industry utilities, cloud computing and distributed ledger technology. For example operational resilience with Singapore Exchange, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup and technology strategy & execution with we.trade, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, Deutsche Bourse.
He was the lead architect from inception through to productive operation of the we.trade distributed ledger technology trade finance consortia service supporting 12 banks across Europe, winning the Blockchain Initiative of the Year at the Payments Awards 2018.
He is currently engaged with clients investigating digital identity exploiting a public distributed ledger, a central bank investigating DvP of securities/cash using ledger technologies, a complex application centric cloud transformation strategy for a CSD plus ongoing operational resilience and product lifecycle reviews.
Andrew has recently contributed to the UK Innovate Finance Industry Sandbox for FinTech activities where he has contributed the reference architecture content, had a chapter published in Reto Francioni’s (former Deutsche Bourse CEO) book ‘Equity Markets in Transition’, was interviewed at the LSE with Finextra on Operational Resilience, was a panelist on the CSFI Fintech for Breakfast series and co-authored a paper on operational resilience for financial markets.
Andrew has a Masters in Engineering degree from Durham University, has attained ACSI status with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (Investment Operations Certificate) and is a Chartered Engineer with the IET.
Andrew is also a member of the Durham University Computer Science Advisory Board.
